The increase in the human intelligence is not explained by the increase in brain size. Although it remains practically the same size as millions of years ago, our brain has become many times more intelligent. But don’t worry, because we’re getting stupid again.
The brain rules the rest of the body, including the heart. The heart is but a poor victim of the brain. Emotions come from the brain, not from the heart. The brain is like a horseman. And the horse, the heart.
The heartbeat is just an echo of what goes on in the brain. These echoes are dictated not only by reason, as we thought in the past. But also, by emotion and spirituality.
Well, even though I believe in God and I have a strong spirituality, I don’t follow any religion. For me, they don’t all reach the toenails of this spirituality.
But each one has his belief, as valid as mine. Well, they are all part of the universe. I read that science has already found that anyone who can explore spirituality through any religion, whatever it is, can better train the brain.
When I face an apparently insurmountable obstacle (like a terrible health problem), I run away from reason and invest only in emotion and spirituality. After losing fear, reason comes into the picture and plans for the future. When I run away from that discipline, the fear doesn’t go away and gets in the way.
